LA MESA, Calif. – Ruby V. Barnes formerly of Farmington, passed away in La Mesa, California, June 4, 2017, at the age of 76. She was born December 12, 1940, to the late Albert Wilfong and Eva (Baker) Wilfong. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Diane Barnes; seven siblings, brothers, Lawrence, Lloyd, Leeman, Ray, Tommie and Dale Wilfong; and one sister, Edna Ruth Cartee.

Ruby was raised in the Coffman and Avon area. She graduated from Farmington High School in 1958 and then went on to pursue a career as a Nurse after graduating from Mineral Area College with a nursing degree. She was the first of her family to receive a college degree and pursued her degree after the death of her daughter in 1973. She worked at Community Hospital in Farmington for many years before moving close to her daughters where she helped with her grandchildren. Ruby was an accomplished seamstress and she enjoyed sewing and quilting for her family. She also liked scrapbooking and created many albums for her family to enjoy. She will be fondly remembered by her loved ones as always being there for them and extending a loving hand.
Survivors include her two daughters, Pamela Dawn Graham and husband, Marc and Lisa Dee Diaz and husband, Ray; four grandchildren, Kane, Adriene, Isabel and Santo; six great-grandchildren, Emma, Damien, Rylan, Inara, Lyla and Christian; two brothers, Gale Wilfong and wife, Joyce, Vernon Wilfong and wife Lee Ann; and a sister, Mary Moonier and husband, Paul; sisters-in-law, Judie Wilfong, Glenda Wilfong, Virginia Wilfong and Roberta Wilfong and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Friends and family may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Thursday, June 8, 2017, from 5-8 p.m. Visitation will resume Friday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Rev. Cody Alley officiating. Interment will follow in Parkview Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made in Ruby's name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
