Another Veteran answers Taps. Charles Lucas, a well known and respected resident of the city, passed away shortly after noon today at the E. D. Crumpacker home on North Michigan street... Although his death was not entirely unexpected, the news that he has passed to the silent beyond will be received with profound regret by a large following of friends...The deceased was about sixty-six years of age and was a native of Illinois. Mr. Lucas never married, and for a number of years had made his residence with his sister, Mrs. E. D. Crumpacker, of this city. The decedent was a member of Chaplain Brown post, G. A. R., of this city. He served through the rebellion as a member of the One-Hundred-Fifty-First Indiana regiment. Surviving are two brothers, Rev. John Lucas of Canyon City, Colo., and William Lucas of Chicago, and two sisters, Samantha Lucas of Canyon City, Colo., and Mrs. E. D. Crumpacker of this city.
