Charles Miller Hatcher, 94, of Neptune Beach, Florida passed away peacefully May 26, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Page Hatcher; his children Charles Page Hatcher MD (Jessica) of Annapolis, Maryland and Elizabeth “Buff” Hatcher Wagner (Larry) of Jacksonville, Florida; his grandchildren Timothy McIlrath (Tara), Sarah McIlrath (Brady Ward), Courtney Smith (Brian), Jeanne Hatcher, Mary Fischer (Tim), Andrew McIlrath, Charlie Hatcher, Claire Hatcher; and nine great grandchildren .

Born in Lynchburg, Virginia February 25, 1923 to Thomas and Frances Hatcher, Charlie grew up in the small town of Amherst, Virginia. Charlie served in the United States Navy during World War II and participated in the invasion of Okinawa. He was a graduate of Randolph Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. He married Betty Page March 31, 1951 in Amherst, Virginia. The insurance industry brought them to Jacksonville, Florida over 60 years ago. Charlie’s life was centered on things that have lasting value – faith, family, friends and country. He is known for his humility and godly character and his faithfulness as a true servant of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Charlie’s Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home, 3600 3rd St S, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. Interment will take place at a later date in Amherst, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Church of Our Savior, 511 Pablo Avenue, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250 or Compassion International, Colorado Springs, CO 80997. Be sure to note in memory of Charles Hatcher.
