Judge William Wallace Poole, a prominent citizen of Montgomery County, died suddenly Friday night, at his home near Poolesville, of heart disease. Judge Poole had driven with his wife to Poolesville, to attend an entertainment given at that place. On returning late he left his wife at the house, and himself took the horse to the stable. Not returning, the family became uneasy and went in search of him. He was found in the stable dead.
In February 1879, Judge Poole was appointed by Governor John Lee Carroll to fill the vacancy caused at that time, on the Orphans' Court bench, by the death of Richard C. White. In the fall of the same year he was elected to succeed himself, and was re-elected in 1881. He was at one time one of the Board of County Commissioners of Montgomery County.
Judge Poole married, as his first wife, Adela (Avilda) Allnutt. By her he had three children -- Anna, Wallace, and Mamie. Miss Anna married Rev. Mr. Thomas, of Martinsburg, W. Va.
Mr. Poole recently married Miss Agnes Jones, of Montgomery County, who survives him. He was sixty-five years of age.
