Our lives were deeply and forever touched by the life of Randy (Pops) MacDonald, who passed away peacefully on May 25, 2017 in Bozeman, Montana, following a yearlong battle with cancer. Randy was born in Billings, Montana on Sept. 18, 1943 to Ruby and Don (Mac) MacDonald. Second born by seven minutes to identical twin Sandy, the boys were later joined by siblings Richard, Donna and Nelma (Mosier) MacDonald. Randy proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country in Korea from February 1961 to April 1965. Following a six year courtship Randy married the love of his life, Marilyn O'Donnell on April 14, 1972. They enjoyed nearly 49 years together before her passing in March 2015. Pops gained five step-children who were precious to his heart. His step-son Steve preceded him in death in 1977. Pops also leaves behind four adoring step-daughters with their husbands and families; Cheri and Bill Clawson, Cathy and Dennis Martin, Cindy and Don Scharenberg, and Cally O'Donnell and Scott Freyler. Randy had nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dede and Larry Binder and several nieces and nephews in a large extended family. An informal graveside gathering will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Belgrade on June 17, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. The MacDonald family will host a luncheon in honor of his life on July 8, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the VFW in East Helena, Montana. All family and friends are welcome.

Randy MacDonald was a man of many occupations, but the work he enjoyed most were his years spent as Head of Security at the Montana State University Fieldhouse. He was a huge Seahawks and Broncos fan, fishing aficionado, collector of coins, and built many wishing wells and birdhouses. God blessed us with the sweetest, most tender hearted and loving "Pops" in the world. His positive and upbeat attitude even in the hardest of times taught us much. We are grateful that by the grace of God through his Savior Jesus Christ, Pops now lives in a healthy and whole body forever in heaven. Until we meet again Pops, be blessed in paradise!

The family wishes to express deep thanks to all of Randy's doctors at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital, the VA Home Care and Bozeman Hospice Team. God bless you.
