Gene Campbell, age 78, passed away at his home in Rio Vista, California on April 21, 2017 after surviving a 15-year battle with Myeloma.

Gene was born Oct 4, 1938 to Keith and Lois (Ovenden) Campbell.

Gene and Sally both graduated from Tecumseh High School and were married before moving to Nebraska City and then to Omaha where Gene graduated from the University of Nebraska with an accounting degree.

In June 1965 after his graduation, Gene loaded his car with family and after filling up at his father's Campbell Skelly gas station in Tecumseh, headed to San Francisco, CA where he had a job waiting at Del Monte Foods, which he retired from 32 years later.

Gene returned to Tecumseh often for visits with his family and friends and loved returning for the Tecumseh High School reunions.

His hobbies included boating in Lake Tahoe, snow skiing, golf and travel.

Gene was always community oriented and contributed many hours as board member to Little league, Rocky Ridge Lake Tahoe Homeowners Assoc., a Coast Guard volunteer in Lake Tahoe and the Napa Valley, Ca Dixieland Jazz Society.

One of Gene's hobbies included mapping his family tree. Gene and Sally's ancestors include many of the original settlers of Tecumseh and Sterling area that arrived here in the 1860's to 1880's including family names Campbell, Case, Ovenden, Durst, Rush, Gibbs, Gibson, Powell and Winter.

He is survived by his second wife, Lee Campbell and her 3 children Michelle & Andrew Spenser of Napa, Ca, Emile Devereaux of England and Michael & Julie Devereaux of Washington, two sons, Gene & Diane Campbell of Hayward, CA and Steven Campbell of Ashland, OR, brothers Keith & Gail Campbell of Tecumseh and Paul & Barbara Campbell of Lincoln, 6 Grandchildren, Keith & Tina of New Orleans, LA, Jennifer Campbell of San Jose, CA, Lilianna & Dereck Campbell-Hill of Hayward, CA, Brittany and Chris Carter of Boise, ID, Matt and Jessie Campbell-Langpap of Ashland, OR and Makenzie and RJ Brown of Ashland, OR, 12 great-grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, two nieces, Melissa & Bob Campbell-Thies and Jill Campbell and nephew John & Becky Campbell.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Lois Campbell, 1st wife, Sally Gibson Campbell, brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Judy Campbell and nephew Jeff Campbell.

Gene's memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh with Rev. Ken Tubbesing officiating.

Inurnment will be in the Tecumseh Cemetery.

A lunch will follow at Ramsey's Café.
