Earl Eugene “Gene” Beck, 83, of Peru, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, June 12, 2017 at Mueller Funeral Home in Peru. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in LaSalle. Visitation will be 2-5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Gene was born April 17, 1934 in Meredosia. He was a graduate of LaSalle-Peru High School. He married Dolores Rosalie Mack on November 28, 1959 in Utica. Gene worked as an electrician for Caterpillar for 35 years and was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed building, learning and tinkering. He was a member of the Covered Bridge Barbershop Harmony Chorus where he sang bass and was a member of the Starved Rock Radio Club. His ham radio call sign was N9MRG. Survivors include his wife, Dolores; five children, Ellen (Alan) Learner of Tyler, TX, Diane (Daniel) Nelson of Ladd, Brad (Pamela) Beck and Daryl Beck both of Peru and Holly (Shane) Sanderson of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Matthew Learner, Samuel (Sunshine) Learner, Alexis Beck and Alton Beck; two great-grandchildren, Levi and Sophia Learner; two sisters, Betty Knafelc of LaSalle and Beverly Boers of Seatonville; one brother, Paul (Nancy) Beck of Russell, IA; one sister-in-law, Pat Beck of Oglesby and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Altha (Lister) Beck and two brothers, Kenneth and Keith Beck.
