"The remains of Fred Luckhurst, 55, of Sloansville, who was killed Tuesday, August 2, by an explosion of a boiler at Geneva, Cayuga County, were shipped to Schenectady. Undertaker F. R. Farquher of Central Bridge brought the body from that city to the late residence at Sloansville. Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon at two o'clock, the Rev. O. L. Cooper officiating. Burial was made in the Sloansville Valley Cemetery. Mr. Luckhurst is [s]urvived by his widow, a brother and two nephews. Another man and a boy playing nearby were also killed and a third man seriously injured by the explosion of the traction engine which was being used in road work.
