EDGEWOOD - Services for Austin Theron Dixon, 18, Edgewood, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Edgewood High School gymnasium with the Rev. Scott Brown officiating.
Burial will be in Motley Cemetery, Mesquite, under direction of Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home, Edgewood.
Mr. Dixon died Feb. 19, 2007, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 20, 1988, in Corpus Christi to Don and Leslie Poynter Dixon. He moved to Edgewood in 1994 and joined Cub Scouts and was grand champion in Pinewood Derby Races several times. He was a senior at Edgewood High School and a member of National Honor Society. He played on Texas Teenage Baseball League Championship Teams in 1999, 2001 and 2005, and was currently the pitcher for the Edgewood Bulldogs. He was named All-County pitcher, and 2nd team All-State All-Academic in football for the 2006-2007 season. During the summer, he was a lifeguard at Splash Kingdom Water Park in Canton. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Theron Dixon Sr.
Survivors include his parents, Don and Leslie Poynter Dixon, Edgewood; sister, Ashley, Corpus Christ; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Poynter, Edgewood, and Virginia Dixon, Lahoma, Okla.; uncles, aunts and other relatives.
Pallbearers are Dillon Weaver, Brett Perry, Tim Null, Thomas Calkins, Aaron Smith, Will Hogan, D.J. Rogers and Brandon Pickens. Honorary pallbearers include Coaches Jason Seale, Brent Hutto, Josh Wheeler, Rusty Hogan, Tim Weaver and the Edgewood Baseball Team.
Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Family Life Center of First Baptist Church, Edgewood.
If desired, memorials may be made to an account in his name at First National Bank, Edgewood.
