Gene Duncan

Tupelo - Mr. Roy Eugene "Gene" Duncan, 71, died Monday, June 5, 2017 while in Gregory Greenhouse at Methodist Senior Services, Tupelo Campus, following an extended illness. He was born May 27, 1946 in Pontotoc, MS to Roy Earl Duncan and Mary Alice Gooch Duncan. Gene was a graduate of Randolph High School and earned a Pharmaceutical Degree at the University of Mississippi. He worked as a pharmacist for Furrs Pharmacy in Pontotoc for many years as well as the Regional Retardation Pharmacy in Oxford. He was very artistic and creative, loved working with flowers, and enjoyed working part-time for Betty's Flowers of Oxford while living there. Gene enjoyed taking long walks in the woods admiring all of God's creation and its' beauty. He was a long-time member of Springville Baptist Church.

Survivors include his sister, Mary Frank "Frankie" Waldrop of Traceway Retirement Center, Tupelo; two nephews, Phil Waldrop (Linda) of Tupelo and Terry Waldrop of Saltillo; three great-nieces, Lindsey Shafer (Daniel), Jacy Waldrop and Kylie Waldrop; two great-nephews, Brent Waldrop (Arian) and Justin Waldrop (Lauren). He was preceded in death by his parents.

There will be a private family service at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with burial at Springville Cemetery in Pontotoc. Condolences may be e-mailed to [email protected].
