Walter was born in Steeleville, Illinois on April 6, 1923, the son of Fred H. and Frieda Hornbostel Mueller. He married Dorthy Uchtman on June 19, 1948 at Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville. She preceded him in death on August 10, 2014. He worked at the Shoe Factory for 31 years, Custodian at Steeleville Grade School for 15 years and he was a lifelong farmer. Walter was a WWII Veteran of Army, receiving American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon w/3 Bronze Battle Stars, WWII Victory Medal w/2 overseas bars and Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Steeleville; 72 year member of BBK American Legion Post #480 in Steeleville. He was active in various Church Organizations.
Walter was preceded in death by his Parents; one sister, Evelyn Wolters ; two brothers, Albert; and twin unnamed brother to Evelyn: and one sister-in-law.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Steeleville with Rev. Kelly Bedard officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery in Steeleville. Visitation will be at Wilson’s Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 6 pm to 8 pm Tuesday and on Wednesday from 7:30 am until 9 am then from 10 am until 11 am at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or Three Springs Lodge Activity Fund.
