On Monday, July 18, Beulah Popma passed away at the Nelson Manor in Newton, Iowa where she was currently a resident.
She was born on August 16, 1907 at Pella, Iowa, the only child born to Herman and Katherine (De Bruyn) Veenstra.
She graduated from Pella Public High School in 1925 and from Central College in Pella in 1929. From Central College, Beulah received her bachelor's degree in education and obtained her teaching certificates in English, History, and German.
On October 15, 1929, she was united in marriage with Gerrit Jacob Popma at Nashua, Iowa in the Little Brown Church in the Vale. Mr. Popma was credit manager for Commercial Credit Corporation and retired as President of the Textile Banking Company.
Mr. and Mrs. Popma moved to New York City in 1944 where they were living when he passed away while visiting Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 19, 1967.
Mrs. Popma continued to live at Alger Court, Bronxville, New York until moving to Heather Manor at Des Moines, Iowa in November of 1987.
Preceding her in death were her parents: Katherine, who died on November 19, 1970 and Herman Veenstra, who died on April 12, 1972.
She was a member of the Bronxville Reformed Church in Bronxville, New York. Being an executive's wife, Beulah loved to entertain her friends and other guests. She found enjoyment in playing bridge with her numerous social friends. Beulah traveled extensively throughout the world and was fond of traveling often. She will be always remembered as being an elegant and gracious lady.
