Anthony Gabriel, a resident of Middletown, Del. and formerly of Chalfont, Pa., passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017. He was 85.

Born July 6, 1931 in Johnstown, Pa., Anthony was the son of the late Giovanni and Carmella Gabriele, and beloved husband to Marian (Sheen) Gabriel.

Anthony is survived by his brother, Victor Gabriele; by his children, Marie Erdman, Laura Dixon, Barbara Hopkins, Thomas Gabriel, and Mary Wynne; by ten grandchildren, Angelisa Sanborn, Michael DeNicola Jr., Daniel and Nicholas Costa, Patrick, Brian and Kevin Erdman, and Christina, Danielle and Jacklyn Finnemeyer; and five great- grandchildren, Michael DeNicola III, Gabrielle and Celeste Sanborn, Ryan Jaatar, and Aidan Erdman.

Anthony served in the U.S. Navy and attended classes at the University of Pennsylvania. He worked at Leeds and Northrup in North Wales, Pa. for 40 years before retiring and moving to Ocean View, Del.

He enjoyed bowling, camping, traveling, and playing Bridge. He was a devoted and loving husband and father.

Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate his funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Church, 1325 Upper State Road, North Wales, Pa., where the viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. John Neumann Cemetery.
