Dr. Loren Grey, the youngest son of Western author Zane Grey and wife Lina Elise Roth. His older brother, Romer Z. passed away in 1976 and Betty Zane, born three years before. A writer in his own right, Dr. Grey was Professor Emeritus of Educational Psychology at California State University in Northridge where he taught for 30 years.

Loren Grey educuational teaching focused on the relationship between teacher, the child and the parent. He wrote many articles and books on the subject, including Discipline without Fear
Child Training During the Early School Years (1974).

Other titles to his credit included the 1985 Zane Grey: A Photographic Odyssey, a photographic biography of his father. Dr. Grey authored the Lassiter series under the name Loren Zane Grey. His last book, Alfred Adler, the Forgotten Prophet: A Vision for the 21st Century was published in 1998.

For the past thirty years, Dr. Grey has overseen the Zane Grey's West Society.

He was an avid deep-sea fisherman, spending his earlier years traveling and fishing with his father. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was in Hawaii during the attach on Pearl Harbor, but was in the hospital recovering from the mumps. He spent his time there helping out in the hospital during and after the attack.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie. His wish was to be cremated and his ashes spread over the North Umpqua River in Oregon, his most loved fishing river.
