On November 29, 1944, Don entered the United States Army in Milwaukee and served as a private until the time of his honorable discharge on November 24, 1946, from Fort Sheridan, Ill.
Don worked for many years for Uniroyal as a tire builder, and also at various local sanitation companies in the Eau Claire area.
One of Don's favorite hobbies was operating his ham radio for years. He was also and avid hunter and fisherman. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching pro wrestling on television and working on cars. He will always be remembered by his family and friends as a hard worker who always went the extra mile, and also as a great comedian.
Donald is survived by his son, Donald C. Everson, of Windsor, Wis.; a daughter, Donna Everson of Miami; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Bernice (Glenn) Haugenand of Osseo, Loretta Lien of Osseo, Luetta Heath of Osseo and Alice Marie Butler of Rockford, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his first and second wives, Delores and Helen; his parents; and a sister, Gladys Faldet.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2006, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, with Pastor David J. Irgens officiating. Burial, with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 53, will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire. Friends may call one hour before the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
