Catherine was born in Rochester, New York to Edward and Mary (Haszlauer) Bauerschmidt.
She attended Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School, graduating in 1939.
During World War II, Catherine volunteered to work with the American Red Cross in Rochester area medical facilities.
She went on to business school and eventually went to work for the Eastman Kodak Company. While employed there, Catherine met the love of her life, Arthur W. Zimmerman, at a YMCA dance in 1948. They were married in February, 1949 and lived in the Rochester area where they eventually raised nine children.
Catherine and Art relocated to Fort Collins in 1971. She immediately made St. Joseph's her spiritual home and joined the Legion of Mary. She immersed herself in supporting the Church, including providing Eucharistic support to the infirm.
She enjoyed movies, reading (especially Agatha Christie novels), and spending time with her family.
