New London, NH-Iris Patricia (Wirta) Clark, 86, of King Hill Road, died Friday, June 2, 2017 at the New London Hospital surrounded by family.

Mrs. Clark was born in Sunapee, NH on Dec. 27, 1930 the daughter of Eino and Marjorie (Roach) Wirta. She received her BE from Keene State College in 1965; had an Educational Fellowship from 1967-1968; received a ME from the University of NH in 1968; a SAIF-NH State Certification in 1973 (Specialist in the Assessment of Intellectual Functioning) and an IRA Reading Fellowship in 1971. She had been employed by Saska Ski Equipment Co. for 15 years and by the Kearsarge Regional School District for 32 years retiring in 1996.

Pat was a member of the Sunapee Recreation Committee; Past President of the Sunapee Methodist Women’s Organization; the Community United Methodist Church Choir; a charter member, past secretary of the Mount Sunapee Area Ski Club and Ski Ministry Treasurer; a charter member (1955) and past secretary for 18 years of the Area Choir; an organizer, charter member and Past President of the Granite State International Reading Assoc.; and organizer and charter member of NH Affiliate of the International Society for Technology in Education; a member of the New London Historical Society and in 1971 received an International Reading Assoc. Summer School Fellowship at UCLA in Santa Cruz. She was also a member of the Kearsarge Regional Teachers Association; the NH Teachers Educational Assoc.; the National Education Association; the Lake Sunapee Country Club; the Sunapee Harbor Riverway Board and a member of The First Baptist Church of New London Choir.

Members of her family surviving include her husband of 29 years, Donald W. Clark, M.D. of New London, NH; two daughters, Teresa and her husband, David Hosmer of Sutton, NH and Dayle and her husband, David Finn of Lady Lake, FL; six stepchildren, Holly Clark of Rochester, NH, Leslie Clark of Wilkinsburg, PA, Linda and her husband, Randy Lamell of Middlesex, VT, David and his wife, Kathy Clark of Wayland, MA, Jennifer and her husband, David Zamansky of Durham, NH and Donald, Jr. and his wife, Hannah Clark of Kittery, ME; 11 grandchildren, Gretchen, Heather, Amanda, Drew, Tyler, Austin, Jake, Leah, Blue, Liberty and Noble; and two great grandchildren, Codie and Jordan. She was predeceased by siblings, William Roach, John and Paul Wirta and Helen Barnes.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at The First Baptist Church, 461 Main Street, New London, NH . Burial will be in West Part Cemetery, New London, NH.
