Sara J. Baker, 86, of Washington passed away at 6:58 a.m. Sunday, June 4, 2017 surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 18, 1930 in McMinnville, TN the daughter of Will and Josie Thomison. She married Hoyt Baker on May 19, 1948 in LaFayette, GA. He passed away on September 2, 1996 in Peoria. Two brothers William “Murpha” and Robert “Wilson” Thomison also preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters Patricia (Ira Kushner) Baker of Cheshire, CT and Deborah Baker of East Peoria, IL. Also surviving are four grandchildren Annie (Nick) Tsikretsis of Skokie, IL Brian (Melissa) Bandeko of Toulon, IL, Cassidy Kushner and Caroline Kushner both of Cheshire, CT. Also surviving are two great grandchildren Niko and Luca Tsikretsis along with two nephews Mike Thomison of Peoria, IL and Brett Heckman of Franklin, TN.

Sara was a dedicated employee of OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria for 30 years retiring in 1986.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington, IL. Further visitation will be Thursday, June 8, 2017 at High Funeral Home in McMinnville, TN from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2017 with additional visitation one hour prior to her service at High Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Warren County, TN. Memorials in her name may be given to OSF Hospice or to Neighborhood House-Peoria.
