John was born at home in Fort Howard, Maryland to the late Jesse and Elsie (nee Gude) Capps. He enjoyed crabbing and fishing on Shallow Creek and surrounding waters while growing up. He attended Fort Howard elementary and the old Sparrows Point High School that once was in the old town of Sparrows Point. When old enough, he joined the US Navy, serving during the Korean War. After his years in the Navy, he worked for 40 years in the Open Hearth and at the Basic Oxygen Furnace for Bethlehem Steel Corporation. After retirement, John enjoyed tending his yard, watching football, woodworking, and most of all, spending time with his family.
The family would like to thank Pastor James Caris for the many, many home and hospital visits he paid on Mr. Capps. Our dear Pops will be sorely missed
