Great Falls—Charles A. Allen, 80, of Great Falls, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, April 21, 2017.

Charles was born on Mother's Day, the 10th of May 1936, to David B. and Eva V. Allen in Roanoke, Virginia. Charles was the last of six children which included: David, Carl, Mary Sue "Peggy", John and Nancy. He attended schools in Roanoke from the year of 1942 to 1954. He was an average student but more interested in the life around him. His family was his number one priority. He entered the Air Force in February of 1954. Charles took basic training in Texas and job training in Mississippi. He was assigned as a radar technician to the 801st Air Control and Warning (AC&W), 29th Air Division at Malmstrom in July of 1954. He received his GED through the Air Force and took classes from the Air Force College with excellent grades but did not receive a degree. He married Lily Mae Ulrich in June of 1958, and returned to Virginia with his bride in 1959.

After his mother's death he returned to Montana where his two sons were born. He had various jobs and helped on his father-in-law's ranch. He joined the Montana Air National Guard, 120th Security Flight, now Security Forces in 1981 and was medically retired in 1991. His career in the military was enjoyable and knowledgeable. He believed in the American Way and felt blessed that he received the respect of all his friends and knew them well enough to share everything with, his beliefs and dreams.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and son Kirk "Randy" Allen.

Charles is survived by his wife of 59 years; a son; and numerous nieces and nephews.
