Mr. Reid was born January 29, 1957 in Iredell County and was a resident of Buncombe County since 1993. An avid fisherman, he was a member of Bass Masters and fished with several local clubs. He had worked at Borg Warner for over 30 years. Jerry was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church and had a heart for missions and serving others; he had traveled to Brazil 13 times. He loved his grandchildren. He was the son of Jack Gabe Reid and the late, Louise Weathers Reid. A brother, Richard Reid also preceded Jerry in death.
Surviving in addition to his father are his wife of 31 years, Teresa Silvers Reid; daughter, Canza Reid; son, Tracy Reid and wife Ashley; sister, Penny Reid Hawkes and husband Ken; brothers, Jackie Reid and wife Dora and David Reid; grandchildren, Riley and Remington as well as several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in Locust Grove Baptist Church with Rev.’s Ben Whitmire and Dr. Walter Ponder officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. (Edited by Jeff Lovelace.)
