C. Elmer Clark, 81, passed away at his home after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 12, 2002.

He was born March 5, 1921, in Tooele, the son of Samuel Woolley and Ada Pocock Clark. He was raised in Grantsville, Utah, where his primary interest was farming with his family.

He served an LDS mission in the New England states from 1942 to 1944. He later served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1945 to 1946. He received a bachelor's degree from USU in 1950 and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, with a major in animal physiology and a minor in biochemistry in 1962.

He married Rhoda Lyman on Sept. 21, 1951, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and established their home in Logan. They had four children. He worked at USU in Extension and Research at the Utah Agricultural Experiment Station, eventually becoming the director.

He served on national and regional research committees, retiring in December 1988.

His wife preceded him in death on April 21, 1990. He married Dixie Wiser on June 22, 1991, and they lived in North Logan.

Elmer was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many leadership positions including counselor in the Stake Presidency, high councilman, counselor in the bishopric, bishop, high priest group leader, priest quorum advisor, young
men's president, and home teacher.

His hobbies included farming, gardening, singing in the ward choir, horse riding trips to the Wind Rivers, round and square dancing. He was the round dance cuer for the "Lace 'N' Levis" square dance club. He also enjoyed playing his harmonica with the "Oldies But
Goodies" harmonica band.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie Lee Balling Wiser; sons, Dennis (Ruth Ann), and Brent (Kae); daughters, Susan (Steve) Parkinson and Julianne (Brian) Flammer; seven stepchildren, two of whom he helped raise, Martin and Michael Wiser; 20 grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brothers, Lester (Diane) and Dwight (Bertha); and three sisters, Florine, Deon, and Shirley (Richard).

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2002, in the North Logan 2nd Ward Chapel located at 1105 E. 2100 North. Friends and family may call Monday, June 17, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. at NelsonFuneral Home, 162 E. 400 North, Logan, and onTuesday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be at the Logan City Cemetery.
