GORDO - Joshua Alan Cooley, 36, of Gordo, Ala, passed away May 31, 2017 in Elrod, Ala. A memorial service will be 2p.m., Monday, June 5, 2017 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Glen Sandifer officiating. Burial will following in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Northport with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Ray Devan Cooley and Billy Arvin Corbell.
Survivors include his father, Ray Denson Cooley and Stepmother, Connie Cooley; his mother, Donna Kay Kernop; stepfather, Allen Kernop; girlfriend, Amy Donahue; son, Karsen Joshua Cooley; daughter, Abbi Victoria Cooley; special little sister to Abbie and Karsen, Brooke Cyr; brothers, Brandon Thomas Cooley (Erica) and Shane Montgomery (Sarah); grandmothers; Vina Cooley and Syble Corbell; stepbrothers, Josh Kernop (Brandy) and Curtis Clements; stepsisters, Kansas Sellers (Bob), Crista Smith (Clay) and Jamie Montgomery; nephew, Garrett; niece, Anna Carson; and a host of other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Joshua was born November 5, 1980 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and an electrician by trade. Josh was involved with the North Bibb Dixie Youth Baseball League and was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard.
Pallbearers will be his brothers, Brandon Cooley and Shane Montgomery.
