On February 8, 2017, she peacefully transitioned to an eternal rest while surrounded by family at Passages Hospice in New Orleans
After graduating from St. Tammany High School and attending Southern University, Helen married and relocated to Los Angeles in 1963. In sunny Southern California she raised her four kids and years later, as an independent woman, began working at Zenith Equipment Company where she ultimately retired as CEO in 1997.
Missing the hospitable comforts of the South, Helen returned to Slidell in 2001 and reconnected with her many family, friends, and classmates. She often hosted family parties and impressed others with her talented cooking skills.
In her latter years, Helen didn't allow a variety of health complications to limit her adventures. During her free time, she enjoyed cruises to the Caribbean, socializing, and a monthly casino excursion with her girlfriends.
Helen's warm-hearted and nurturing soul allowed her to raise far more than her four natural born children. Commonly known as "Nana" or "Mama Helen," she impacted many people throughout her life.
Helen is survived by her four children: Sandy, Clifton (Pia), Bradly (Jennifer), Chambria; six loving grandchildren: Skylar, Kayla, Thomas, Chandin, Dustin, Emily; and countless extended family members and friends.
Memorial Services were held at St. Genevieve Catholic Church, Slidell, La., on February 18, 2017.
Interment was in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Slidell,La.
