Shirley Maxine (Chesney) Houston, age 75, passed in her own home on Memorial Day, May 29, 2017. Shirley was born May 6, 1942, in Laurel, Jones County, Mississippi, to her parents, Odis Lee Chesney and Sadie Marie Guthrie. She graduated from Pascagoula High School in 1960 and that same year married Fred Lee Houston. They moved to Houston, Texas, where they raised a family of three girls. Shirley worked at Texaco Chemical for many years and later at Huntsman Corporation. After her retirement, she enjoyed her hobbies, which included reading, crafts, and family genealogy research. 
Shirley is survived by her three daughters-- Karen Marie Buckner and Joni Lynn (Houston, TX) and Lisa Gail (Florida) and their father, her dear sister Pat (Chesney) Byrd and her brother-in-law Stanley Byrd and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Mississippi; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and many beloved, long-term friends.
There will be a memorial service on 6-23 at 11am and her remains will be scattered in the memorial garden at River Bend Baptist Church in Fulshear, TX. 
We will miss her gentle spirit, her unfailing optimism, and her deep and joyous faith.
