Velma Elizabeth Margarita Watje Ferguson, daughter of Charles and Marie ( Jacobson ) was born on April 16, 1914 on her parents' farm near Round Lake, Minnesota. Velma grew up on the family farm and attended county school. Following her education, Velma helped clean homes for farm families in the area. She married William Ferguson on October 5, 1935 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Following thier marriage the couple in Worthington and Jeffers. They then moved to a farm north of Heron Lake and farmed for thirty seven years. They retired from farming and moved into Heron lake in 1984. Mr. Ferguson passed away on July 10, 2001 and Velma Continued to live in her home until entering Lakeview Nursing Home in Heron lake in July of 2002. Velma is survived by eight children; Shirley Johnson-Berland and her husband Gary Berland of Buffalo, Minnesota; Tom and his wife Janice of Parkers Praire, Minnesota; Joyce and her husband David Anderson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Dan Ferguson of Middleberg, Florida; Art and his wife Darlene of Winger, Minnesota; Ruth and her husband Maury Ferden of Dawson, Minnesota; Ilene and her husband Arlan Engler of Revere, Minnesota and Edie Sieler of Minnetonka, Minnesota; thirty two gandchildren; fifty great grandchildren; four great great granchildren; one sister Lillian Von Holdt of Lake Park, Iowa and one brother Edward Watje of New Brighton, Minnesota. Velma is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a granddaughter Beth Skelton, A son in law Delbert Johnson, thre brothers Glenn, Herman. and Fred, and one son in law Loren Lehnhoff
