Funeral services will be 10:00AM Saturday June 3, 2017 at Van Hoe Funeral Home, Ltd., in East Moline. Visitation will be from 5-7PM Friday at the funeral home where memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in East Moline.
Connie was born December 17, 1933 in Des Moines, IA, a daughter of Howard and Catherine Jennings. She graduated from Alleman High School and married James Van Daele. After he passed away in 1968, she then married Ron Welch in 1973. He passed away in 2012.
Mrs. Welch worked for John Deere as a secretary until her marriage and became a life-long avid homemaker and devoted mother to her family.
In her younger years, she was a avid bowler, and was Captain of the Women's Shuffleboard Team in Peoria for many years. Later in life, she found a natural talent as an accomplished artist, having painted numerous paintings, and also enjoyed playing slot machines.
She was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Timberlake Country Club both in Peoria, and also a member of the Elks Club and East End Club both in Moline.
Connie is survived by: seven children: Vicki (Jim Vespermann) Carty of Moline; Chris (John) Johnson of East Moline; James “Howard” (Kathleen) Van Daele of Centerville, IA; Jeanne Reed of Neillsville, WI; David R. Van Daele of Lakewood, CO; Joni (Robert Anastasov) Van Daele of Denver, CO; and Therese (Bruce) Bopes of Burleson, TX; five step-children: Cheryl, Dave, Cliff, Mike and Dory; 16-grandchildren, 16-great-grandchildren, 2-sisters: Judie Rogers of Peoria, and Jan (Jeff) Miller) of Moline; a sister-in-law: JoAnn Jennings of Silvis; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her special friends: The Warner Family, Russ “Pops” Hoffman, Mary Ann and Elaine; and additionally, her special canine companion, Annie.
She was preceded in death by her spouses, 1-granddaughter: Michelle Johnson, her brother: Tom Jennings, her sister: Kay Nichols, 2 sons-in-law: Craig Carty and Mike Reed; and a brother-in-law: Doc Rogers.
