David Harris Moon, 66, passed away on May 31, 2017 from cancer. He was a beloved husband, father, and brother. Dave was born on September 25, 1950 in Ashton, Idaho. He was the son of the late Harris and Betty Moon.

Dave graduated from South Fremont High School in 1968. He met and married Lynda Blain on February 14, 1973 at the 2nd Ward in St. Anthony, Idaho and was later sealed to Lynda in the Idaho Falls Temple. Dave was an active member in Pocatello’s 41st and 29th wards. He served as Boy Scout Master of Troop 142, earned his Wood Badge Beads, was a Round Table Commissioner, and was among the few Pheasants in the world. Dave worked for U. S. West and Simplot before retiring. Dave was skilled in many areas including food preservation, stained glass artistry, writing short stories, amateur radio operator, (AB7AP), and enjoyed camping and fishing with his wife and children, and loved the Warm River area.


Dave is survived by five children, Tammy (Adin) Clark of Seattle, Washington, Stephanie (Jorge) Barreto, Kristy (Andres) Barreto both of San Tan Valley, Arizona, Scott (Teresa) Moon and Ryan (McKenzie) Moon both of Ogden, Utah; twenty grandchildren; his sisters, Kathy (Lee) Clark of St. Anthony, Idaho, Rebecca (Tim) Moon of Boulder City, Nevada; and his brothers, Phillip (Lacey) Moon of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Stephen (Camille) Moon of Rigby, Idaho.

Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda Moon; and his parents, Harris and Betty Moon.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the LDS church at 1700 Kinghorn Rd, Pocatello, ID 83202. There will be a viewing at the same location, Friday the 9th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and Saturday the 10th from 9:00 to 10:00AM prior to the services.

Burial will follow at the Ashton, Idaho Cemetery.
