GALE FRANKLIN "CANDY" JOHNSON SR. is the son of Frank Lincoln Johnson and Mrs. Julia Amelia Hillary Johnson.

To commemorate his retirement in 2001 from the Marshall Police Department, Mr. Johnson recalled that he "took his first law enforcement job in 1975 with the Harrison County Sheriff's Department after working at Thiokol. A year later, he decided to work for the Marshall Police Department as a patrol officer."

For many years, he was employed with Wiley College in Marshall, Texas as its campus police & principal security officer.

Funeral services in his remembrance were held Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Julius Scott Sr. Chapel on the campus of Wiley College located at 711 Wiley Avenue in Marshall, Texas 75670.

Viewing was held Friday, June 2, 2017 from 1:00 pm until 7:00 p.m. Family visitation hour was schedule for Friday, June 2, from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Both of these events were held at the Chapel at Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas.

To honor him, Mr. Johnson lie in state from 12:00 noon until the time of the funeral services.

GALE FRANKLIN "CANDY" JOHNSON SR. was laid to his rest on the grounds of Rosehill Gardens Cemetery in Marshall, Texas.

Arrangements were entrusted to the funeral directors with Black's Carthage Funeral Home located at 625 East Sabine Street in Carthage, Texas 75633 Tel (903) 693-3611.
