Ethel Lee Sanders, 102, of OKC passed from this life on May 29, 2017. Services have been entrusted to the care of Advantage Funeral Service and a service celebrating her life will be held at 10am Friday, June 2nd at the Chapel at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Svc at 7720 S. Penn in OKC. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Pauls Valley, OK.

Ethel was born on Aug 17, 1914 in Bochito, OK to Dan and Lillie (Alexander) Jackson. She was raised and attended school in the Stratford/Pauls Valley area. In the early 30's she met the love of her life, her bus driver Raymond Lewis Sanders and in 1933 the two were married. They settled in Civit, near Pauls Valley where Ethel worked raising her son Ray. In 1941, the family relocated to OKC where Raymond opened a garage at SW 13 and Penn. Ethel continued keeping her home and raising her son as Raymond worked long hours at his shop.

Raymond passed away in 1994 and Ethel, being an independent and strong-willed woman, continued to live alone in her own home well into her late 90's. Those who knew Ethel knew her faith was an important part of her life. She was a member of Trinity Nazarene Church in OKC for nearly four decades. Ethel was an outgoing woman who was always up for having a good time. Even as a young woman, she and Raymond would attend play parties and dances hosted by their friends; many in rural settings. Ethel enjoyed playing cards and dominos with her friends and she was always the life of the party.

Family was always her top priority and she loved hosting holiday meals at her home. Every year, the Sanders family knew what to look forward to during the holiday season: eating Ethel's delicious pies, cakes, and homemade ice cream, as well as a chance to catch her cheating at dominos. Nothing made her happier than to be surrounded by her family, especially her granddaughter Cindy whom she loved to spoil.

Ethel Sanders was kind and generous woman who will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Raymond; a grandson John Lewis Sanders; two brothers: Bethel Jackson and Lonnie Jackson; two sisters Leatha Jackson Reavis and Dodie Jackson Magar.

She was survived by her son Ray Sanders and wife Janet of Bethany, OK; granddaughter Cindy Sanders Herhold and husband Mark of Arlington, TX; great grandson's Tony Herhold of Ft. Worth, TX and Travis Herhold and Fiance Taylor Montgomery of Stillwater, OK. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
