Johnnie Mae Patterson left this life on May 28, 2017, at the age of 88, to enter eternal peace with her Lord, Jesus Christ.

Johnnie Mae's life was one filled with love and service for others.

Johnnie Mae was born in Savannah, Georgia.

Her father, the late Lester Johnson, was a Baptist Minister. Her mother was the late Julia Mae Wells.

In the 1940s Johnnie Mae left her studies at the Touro Infirmary School of Nursing in New Orleans upon the death of her mother to return home. She later returned to New Orleans where she has been a devoted member of the Greater St. Stephens Full Gospel Baptist Church since 1957. Johnnie Mae's devoted work as a member of the Greater St. Stephens community included her work as a member of the Usher Board for over 20 years, her faithful devotion to Sunday school service, her active engagement with the Greater St. Stephens Senior Citizens and her regular service to the needy of the New Orleans community.

Johnnie Mae is survived by her siblings, Judy W. Odom, Rita (Roy) Graphenreed, Herman (Sataunja) Wells, all of Moss Point, MS, Sondra (Ernest) Williams of New Orleans, LA, Ruby Ballard of Savannah, GA, Maudell Coates of Wilmington, DE, Charlie (Brenda) Johnson of Cibelo, TX, Grace Cartwright, Larry (Carol) Johnson, Selestine Parker, all of Savannah, GA, and stepchildren and numerous God children.

She will be missed by her family, her many friends and the family of which she had become a part, Sammy and Dena Spalitta and their children, Meg, Matt and grandchild, Henry.

Johnnie Mae's family and friends are deeply grateful to Covenant Home and its staff for their loving and devoted care of Johnnie Mae over the past year.

Relatives and friends of the family, also Pastors, Officers and members of Greater St. Stephens F.G.B.C. are invited to attend the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Greater St. Stephens Full Gospel Baptist Church, 5600 Read Boulevard, New Orleans, LA 70127. Debra B. Morton, Senior Pastor, and Bishop Paul Morton Sr., Co-Pastor officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Arrangements by D.W.
