Kathy Godfrey Turner, age 61 of South Broadway Street, Forest City died Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. She was born July 31, 1951 in Rutherford County and is the daughter of Betty Martin Godfrey of Forest City and the late Kermit Woodrow Godfrey. Kathy was a homemaker and a warm and caring person who loved children and animals. Kathy loved her family and would help in any way she could as she did so faithfully in helping her sister with her twins. Throughout their lives, she has remained a "second mother' to both Pat and Paige. She also enjoyed Bingo and Forest City Owls Baseball.
Her infant son, Michael Shane Turner, her brother, Kenneth Ray Godfrey and a sister, Sandra Elaine Godfrey all preceded her in death. Kathy will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Bill Turner, a brother, Terry Godfrey of Forest City, and a sister, Dorlene Godfrey Robbins and husband Ricky of Henrietta. Her nieces and nephews, Pat Robbins, Paige Robbins Toney, Amy Bradley, Kelly Sisk, Blakely Dobbins, and Phillip Dobbins, a number of Aunts and Uncles as well as her longtime friend, Jerry McAbee of Forest City.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Sunday, July 21, 2013 in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Chad Sisk officiating. Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30 until 2:30 Sunday prior to the service at the mortuary.
