Sophie Ann Kirschenmann, 90, of Aberdeen, S.D., died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.

Sophie was born Sept. 24, 1916, to Wendelin and Elizabeth (Feist) Vetter at Hague.

Sophie married Mike Salwei on May 29, 1941, at Hague. They made their home on a farm near Zeeland and later at Hillsview, S.D. Mike passed away in September, 1959.

Sophie moved to Bowdle, S.D., where she married John Kirschenmann in November, 1963. They lived in Eureka, S.D., and then moved to Aberdeen in 1976. John passed away in November, 1999.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary (Darwin) Kane and Patricia Larson, both of Aberdeen; one son, Ervin (Corrine) Vetter of Chamberlain, S.D.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Kathryn Wald of Ellendale, Alice Welk of Bismarck, and Clara Lipp of Strasburg, and one brother, Tony Vetter of Cudahy, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one son, Jim, one infant child, two sisters, Lucy and Ann, and three brothers, Andy, Mike and John.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Sophie Ann Kirschenmann, 90, of Aberdeen, was held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aberdeen.

Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Aberdeen.
