James "Jimmy" Wilbur Parker, 58, of New Bern died Monday, March 30, 2009, at Craven Regional Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Odelia J. Parker.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Betty G. Parker of New Bern; father, Franklin S. Parker Sr. of New Bern; daughter, Christina M. Nelson of New Bern; brothers, Franklin S. Parker Jr. of Pollocksville and Wayne J. Parker of Washington; sister, Wynne Parker Kenworthy of Dandridge, Tenn.; grandchildren, Kelsey B. Nelson and Michael Chase Nelson; nieces and nephews, Christy Fillingame and Stephen Parker; and grand-nephews, Nicholas and Nathaniel Filligame.

A visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Cotten Chapel with a "Celebration of Life Service" following at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Connie Stutts and Hospital Chaplain Michael D. Bostian officiating.

Jimmy was a member of Ionic Lodge, Sudan Temple and Clarks Hunting Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beech Grove United Methodist Church, 115 Kaitlyn Lane, New Bern, N.C. 28562.
