Dean R. Davis, 84, of Glidden, died Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Lakes Regional Hospital in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

He was born December 26, 1932, to Claude and Mable (Jarnigan) Davis, at Cooper, Iowa. He married Susan Tigges, on December 26, 1956, at St. Joseph Church in Dedham, Iowa. He became a police officer in Jefferson, Iowa. Later he would join Crouse Cartage Company in Carroll for 25 years until he retired. He enjoyed hunting and trapping, and loved fishing with his family and friends at Angler’s Bay in Spirit Lake, where he and his wife managed the park for 12 years after his retirement. He also enjoyed part-time work at Spies Fur Company in Manning for many winters.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 10, at 11 a.m. at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden, with family present at 10 a.m. for visitation, followed by a luncheon at St. Elizabeth Seton Parish Hall, in Glidden. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden.

Dean is survived by his wife, Susan, of Glidden; five children: Deb Ash, of Omaha, Nebraska; Dan Davis and Stacy, of Yankton, South Dakota; Kathy Nees, and her husband, Dan, of Ankeny; John Davis, and his wife, Jennifer, of Huntsville, Texas; and Bruce Davis, PH.d, of Bagley, Minnesota. He is also survived by two sisters, Betty (Russell) Barrow of Jefferson, and Vivian Adams, and her husband, Harold ‘Bud’; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Raymond Tigges, and his wife, Edna, of Cedar Rapids, Annie (Al) Slope, of Omaha, Marie (Ed) Eischeid, of Halbur, Agnes (Leander) Tigges, and Lou Ann (Victor) Tigges; five grandchildren: Kristopher Kelly, Chris Davis, Katherine Kelly, Nick Davis, and Daisy Davis; five great-grandchildren, Lucas, Damian, Aaron, Addelyn, and Liam; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Mable Davis; his father- and mother-in-law, Frank and Mary (Mattes) Tigges; a granddaughter, Angelica Davis, in infancy; siblings and their spouses: Ward (in infancy), Lyle and Johnnie Davis, Dorothy and Clyde Logan, Ione and Gilbert Toyne, Lloyd and Leah Davis, Don and Arlene Davis, and, Leo ‘Swede’ and Jean Davis; brothers- and sisters-in-law and their spouses: Felix, Alverna, Martha and John Buelt, Alice and Harold Heithoff, Dorothy and Virgil Pille, Hilarian Tigges, Melvin and Dorothy Tigges, Leander Tigges, Victor Tigges, and Franklin and Pat Tigges.
