Dorothy Evelyn Reeves Brothers went to her eternal home on May 28, 2017 in Granbury, Texas, with her children by her side. Dorothy had a precious, sweet spirit, and is now in the presence and peace of Jesus.

Dorothy was born on October 14, 1924, to Delmore and Clara Reeves and was raised in Camp Verde. She loved to tell stories of growing up with her many siblings on the farm on Verde Creek. She graduated from Center Point High School. While working at the ticket counter at the Arcadia Theatre, she met a young Air Force serviceman from Indiana named Joe Brothers. They married in 1945 and had two children, Gary and Patty. Dorothy worked for the Kerrville Telephone Company for almost 30 years, retiring in 1988 as a training supervisor. Dorothy was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, where she spent countless hours volunteering in various capacities. She was a member of the Notre Dame Catholic Church.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph Z. Brothers; and her siblings and their spouses: Raymond Perry (“Jack”) and Connie Reeves, Annie Mae and Prentice Witt, Ruth and Oscar Lott, Florence and Glenn Fisher, Lucille and John Felderman, and Etola and Herold McPherson.

She is survived by her children, Gary H. Brothers and Patricia Brothers Barton (and husband, Russell); grandchildren, Daisy Brothers Hansen (and husband, James) and Kurt Reeves Ransleben (and wife, Debbie); and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 10 AM, Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Witt, Joe Dell Witt, Denny McPherson, Russell Barton, Kurt Ransleben, and Randy Ransleben.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
