He was born in Jay, New York, January 1, 1902. He was the son of Arthur and Bridgette Hurley Devlin.
Prior to retiring, for many years, he operated a Ford automobile agency in Lake Placid and was a well known horseman.
Survivors included his wife, Helene Doyle Devlin, of Lake Placid and Hemet, California; a daughter, Miss Jerryann Devlin, and a son, James V. Devlin Jr., a sister, Mrs. Mary Braun of Lake Placid and Long Island; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Bible vigil service was held at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid Tuesday evening, September 19, at 8 p.m. Funeral services were Wednesday morning, September 20, at 10 a.m. in St. Agnes Church. The Rev. Philip Allen, pastor, conducted the services. Burial was in St Agnes Cemetery. Pall bearers were Jack, Gene and Robert Devlin, all of Jay, Arthur, Michael and Matt Devlin, all of Lake Placid.
