John Peter Adams, son of Grace (Closson) and Jedediah Adams, was born March 1, 1824, in Ohio (possibly Summit County, Clinton County, or Warren County.) He was the fifth of six children. He was a farmer and carpenter.
He and his first wife, Elizabeth Rhinehart, probably lived in Clinton County, Ohio, where their six children were born. Elizabeth died in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, sometime after 1869.
John married Louisa Adelina Turnmier, date and place unknown. By 1874, they were living in Akan Township, Richland County, Wisconsin, near his brother Benjamin Adams. John and Louisa's two children were born here.
John died of pneumonia in February 1890 in Richland County, Wisconsin, and is buried in Felton Cemetery. Louisa died September 22, 1919, from a stoke and is buried in Travera cemetery.(Source: The House of Benjamin, by Bertram Adams, 1980, pages 24 and 235.)
