Former longtime Geronimo resident LEE ROY PERKINS, 76, of Duncan, completed his journey on this Earth and went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, in Duncan.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Abundant Life Church in Geronimo, with the Rev. Tony Elkins and the Rev. Harold Metheny officiating. Burial will be in the Fort Sill National Cemetery under direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home in Lawton.
Lee Roy was born March 24, 1930, in Comanche, to John and Ular Ross Perkins. He married Barbara June Elkins on June 4, 1955, in Lawton.
He attended school in Marlow before being inducted into the military in 1951, where he served with the 7th Army, 5th Division Combat Engineers. He worked on and taught electronics for many years at Fort Sill before returning to building bridges, which he acquired a love for with the Army Engineers. Lee Roy worked for several bridge contractors in Oklahoma before retiring in 1994.
Lee Roy will always be remembered for his gentle spirit and for being a wonderful husband, dad and Pepa. He was a member of Abundant Life Church in Geronimo.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara of the home; a son, Steve and wife Dorothea of Duncan; two grandsons, David and Brad, Duncan; a brother, Arlin Perkins, Lawton; and two sisters, Corrine Duncan and Juanita Perkins, both of Lawton. He had numerous nieces and nephews, including two nephews in Australia, and the remainder in the surrounding area.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Rinzy Perkins, and three sisters, Odessa Sibley, Ethel Gibson and Mary Belle Perkins.
Bearers will be Mike Elkins, Bill Elkins, Tommy Anthony, Anthony Mack, Steve Mallow and Randy Jones.
