After 95 years of blessings, Arthur G. Schricker passed peacefully to join the Lord on December 24, 2016. He was recently a patient in the Cuyuna Care Center, Crosby, MN.
Art was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on October 13, 1921, and moved to Grand Island as a young boy.

He fondly remembered his first job on the Haggert Dairy Farm as a teen. He graduated as Salutatorian from Grand Island High School, but, as he was too small to be seen over the podium, he had to stand on a box to give his graduation speech.

Art attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, studying chemical engineering and joining ROTC. He left the University to answer his nation's call. By cupping his foot during the medical exam, Art and his flat feet were able to join the Army in WWII.

Following the war, he returned to Nebraska University and started working for Western Electric.

He met Phyllis Rae Snyder. On September 1, 1947, they were married. Their union was blessed with three children - one son, and two daughters.

Art was employed by Western Electric for 31 years. The family moved from Lincoln to Oklahoma City in 1958.

They were founding members of Our Lord's Lutheran Church there. Art and Phyllis retired to Walker, Minnesota.

Art enjoyed many activities, such as playing bridge and cribbage, bowling, golfing, camping, traveling, and Bible study.

After his partner, Phyllis, passed in 1985, he muddled through until he found the perfect partner again. Finding another bridge player, Art quickly proposed and married Frances Ford Wallin on November 27, 1993. Art and Fran lived in Walker, MN, before moving to Longville, MN, and enjoyed winters in their home in Harlingen, TX.

Art is survived by his wife of 23 years, Fran; son, Don (Penny) of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter, Barbara Ritchen (Bruce Guernsey) of Denver, CO; daughter, Carolyn Rix (Mark) of Fremont, NE; stepsons, Greg (Raquel) Wallin of Big Lake, MN, Mike (Kim) Wallin of Hackensack, MN; brother, Richard William (Jo) Schricker of Eden Prairie, MN; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, Henry H. and Henrietta (Heidenreich) Schricker; wife, Phyllis; grandson, Paul Schricker; brothers, Ralph and Orval; sisters, Evelyn Snediger and Lois Coufal.

In those final days, Art announced that he was ready for a long sleep. When told that God was ready, too, he responded with a big smile on his face, "We're going to have fun."

Memorial services will be held in the spring. Interment will be at the Davenport Cemetery, Davenport, NE.

Donations may be made in Arthur's name to SONshine Ministries, 4248 North Minnesota Street, Harlingen, TX 78550, to assist with housing and basic needs for families in Progresso, Mexico.
