"The schooner Beeswing, Captain Young of Monterey, was capsized on the bar at the entrance of San Francisco harbor on the 17th instant and sunk out of sight, every soul aboard her perished...Among the passengers known to have been on beard (board), was Mr. H. DeGraw, a well known citizen of Monterey, formerly Sheriff of the county, and Mr. Thomas W. Day, Deputy Sheriff, having in his charge two prisoners named Martin Rubio and Christopher Barbee, en rout to San Quentin".
