She was born on August 20, 1925, in Parkersburg and was the daughter of the late Luther Cleveland Kidder and Shadie Lynch Kidder.
She received her 60 year certificate for many years of 4-H leadership, including Stillwell 4-H Club Leader, treasurer of Wood County 4-H Leaders Association, a volunteer with the 4-H and Wood County Fair and the 4-H Ox Roast. She was also a Lifetime member of the 4-H All-Stars. She lived for more than 75 years on Farrow Hill Road and finished her final years at Wyngate Senior Living Community in Vienna.
Anna is survived by her sister, Mary Louise Kidder Jones of Walker; two sons and two daughters, Carl Townsend of Wheeling, Betty Graham, Bill and Linda Townsend all of Murphytown, and Wanda and Gary Townsend of Mineral Wells; her grandchildren, Tracy and Mike Jandebeur and Chad and Kristy Townsend all of Arkansas, Scott and Martha Graham of Texas, Chris and Ginny Graham of Murphytown, Tina Townsend of Parkersburg, Brian and Amy Townsend of Ohio, Vannessa and Tim Davis of Davisville, Craig Townsend and Angie and Chad Townsend and Katie all of Parkersburg, and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Albert Anderson “Blackie” Townsend; son-in-law, Ed Graham; grandsons, Joseph Townsend and Randy Graham; granddaughter, Kimberly Townsend; brothers, Howard Kidder and Gussie Eugene Kidder; sister, Janice Eilene Kidder Barrett.
Funeral service will be Thursday, June 1, at 11 a.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, W.Va., with a graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardens following the service.
