"Philosopher & Poet Extraordinare"
Died peacefully on Thursday May 13, 2003 in his sleep.

He was born in Moab, Utah on Jan. 25, 1935. He lived in Blanding, Utah with his three doting sisters and two big brothers until the age of five when his parents Ralph and Hazel Guymon Hurst decided he would receive better medical care for his diabetes in Salt Lake. Ivan had diabetes all his life and was a medical miracle, dependent on insulin for sixty-two years. Because of this, he chose to donate his body to scientific research so that he might help find a cure.

Ivan had many wonderful adventures as he danced through his journey of life. To him, everything was beautiful enough to write a poem about.

He had three incredible wives, MaryAnn Larkin (deceased), Vivian Mays (divorced), Cheryl Parsons (divorced); three children he loved dearly Michelle (Craig) Chatterton, Scott (Darci) Neuhart, and Minet Neuhart; four grandchildren he adored and many devoted nieces and nephews.

Ivan loved and appreciated all the people in his life more than they will ever know. Our gratitude goes to the staff at Willow Wood Care Center for their outstanding care of patients there. Please join us for a celebration of his life on Saturday, May 17, 2003 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S., at 2:00 p.m.
