She was born Dec. 18, 1921, in Bloomingville, Ohio. She was a 1939 graduate of Sandusky High School and Bowling Green State University. She was a retired teacher from Bellevue City Schools. She and her husband liked traveling extensively and enjoyed their family. Other hobbies were gardening, counted cross stitching, and knitting.
She is survived by her husband, Earnest F. Nixon, whom she married July 9, 1943; a daughter, Betty Jean (Roger) Dickman of Monroeville; two sons, Allen (Pat) of Berea and John (Darlene) of Monroeville; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Weidemann of Sandusky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Newman and Marie Starr (Huntley) Smith; son-in-law Robert Scavuzzo; and brothers-in-law, Lynn Harris and Robert Weidemann.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe St. Monroeville,with the Rev.Amy Little, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Monroeville, officiating. There will be a private graveside committal service at Sand Hill Cemetery.
