South Beach - Charles LaVerne Crawford, 68, died Tuesday at a local care center.
He was born in Molalla and came to South Beach in 1976. He was a truckdriver for 40 years, retiring in 1985.
He married Gayle Beste on Aug. 21, 1971, in Las Vegas, Nev.
He served in the Coast Guard during World War II and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Karen L. Smith of Liverpool, NY., and Bettina "Tina" Van Zonneveld of Kent, Wash.; sister Audrey Toothman of Newberg and four grandchildren.
Memorial services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Bateman mortuary, Newport. Private interment will be in Eureka Cemetery, Newport.
