PRETTY PRAIRIE – Daryl E. Young, 84, died May 23, 2017, in rural Pretty Prairie.

He was born on July 19, 1932, on the family farm, to Merle W. and Hilah Field Young. A lifetime resident of the Pretty Prairie community, he was a farmer and a stockman.

Daryl was a member of the United Methodist Church, a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts, operated the Pretty Prairie Skating Rink, lifelong member of the Pretty Prairie Booster Club, Past President of the Lions Club, having also served as District Governor, Past President of the Reno County Sheep Association, and Past President of the Lone Star Cemetery Association.

On Dec. 28, 1950, he married Nancy J. Bessler. Other survivors include: a son, Robert and his companion Mindy; daughters and their husbands, Dianna Susan, Dr. Patsy and Max Jones, and Cindy and Dr. Kent Correll; brother, Roy Young; sister Phyllis Stucky; grandchildren, Tara Tatro, Seth Jones, Natalie Mallare, Ashley Collichio, Nathan Jones, Andrea James, Katherine Correll and Jonathan Correll; great-grandchildren, Ava and Wesley, Isaiah and Abigail, Micha, Melody and Morgan, Weston, Addi and Lexi, and Kaylea. He was preceded in death by: his parents; infant brother, Forest, and foster daughter, Denise Cole Kelly.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, at the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman. Burial will be in the Lone Star Cemetery.
