Salisbury-James Benjamin Bounds, 90, of Salisbury, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake with family nearby.

He was born in Salisbury. Son of the late Chester & Lillie Bounds of Pittsville.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by two brothers, William Bounds and Donald Bounds, and preceded in death by his first wife Peggy Bounds Jones of Pittsville.

Jim graduated from Hebron High School in 1944.

Jim was a WWII veteran having served in the Army with honors and was proud of having served.

Jim worked many years at Abbotts Dairies, Inc. delivering to many Mom & Pop Stores on the Peninsula. He also worked at Cavanaugh Ford, Montgomery Ward for 27 years and Pohanka Automotive Group in Salisbury for about 31 years.

He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Fruitland and previously served as a lay leader, Superintendent of Sunday School and a Sunday School Teacher.

Jim was a horse lover and had several horses through the years. He always had a large, beautiful garden. It was the farmer in him.

Jim always wore a smile and would do anything for anyone. He never talked bad about anyone.

Jim leaves behind wife Doris Cantwell Bounds, two daughters Linda Lynn Bounds and companion Holton Rhodes of Wye Mills, and Diane Lambert and husband Paul of Willards. In addition two step-children, Michael Cantwell and wife Donna of Salisbury, and Annalee Cantwell Castor of Sterling, VA. Also, five grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, three nieces, one nephew and three sisters-in-law; Lillie Mae Bell, Rebecca Ennis and husband Joseph and Mary Jane Phillips.

Jim was very proud of his family and his Pohanka family. Jim will be sadly missed by all.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury, where friends can come from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. Rev. Paul Sherwood will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802. The family would like to thank everyone at Coastal Hospice for the kindness extended to both Jim and the family during his stay at The Lake.
