Mae “Gale” Martin, age 78, of 93 Shepard Ave., Saranac Lake, died Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 93 Shepard Ave.

Born in Oraville, Maryland on October 13, 1936, she was the daughter of Blake and Frances F. (Marshall) Newell.

Gale had been employed as the head housekeepers at Trudeau Institute for 25 years until her retirement in 2005.

She is survived by one son Doug Martin and his companion Ginger of Saranac Lake, one daughter Nancy Jenkins and her husband Spencer of Keuka, three sisters Joan Long and Nancy Quade of Maryland and Nora Newell of Paul Smiths, six grandchildren Devan Michaud, Derek Michaud, Autumn Besio, Zach Martin, Molly Martin and Madi Martin and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother and one sister Joyce Burch.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours.

Funeral services will take place at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in Maryland. Friends wishing to remember Mae Gale Martin may make memorial contributions to High Peaks Hospice in care of the funeral home.
