Donny was born Nov. 13, 1925, in Wendell, Minn.
He enlisted in the Army in 1944, and was a member of the 77th Infantry Division, serving in the Pacific. Upon returning, he made his way to Montana, where he met his first wife, Luella Rose DeLaMater. They married in June of 1950 and moved to Minnesota, where he lived the rest of his life. Together, they had nine children. He married his second wife, Cecelia Mae Paraday Wolf, in September of 1967. She had six children, whom Donny treated as his own. He and Cel had one son.
Donny was known for his unassuming demeanor, his forgiving nature, his sense of humor and uncommonly quick wit, as well as an ability to fix almost anything. He loved working crossword puzzles, putzing in the garage and being with family, especially the little ones.
He was an extraordinary man and will be greatly missed by his children: Vincent (Ketty) Goerdt, Michael Goerdt (Keith Haugen), Douglas (Candy) Goerdt, Patricia (Joel) Hooker, Sharon (George) Ruetschi, Teresa Moore (Mike Agnew), Raymond Goerdt, Jacqueline (Brian) Roggenbuck and Jeffrey Goerdt; stepchildren: Michael Wolf, Pam (Gary) Sundermeyer, Sonjia (Tom) Redmond, Sandra (Mark) Wehrenberg, Susan Wolf and Debra Wolf; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Schroeder and Agnes (Luverne) Eichhorn; brothers: Ervin (Charlene) Goerdt, Norman (Ann) Goerdt and James Goerdt (Cyndi Osier); a multitude of nieces and nephews (each one “his favorite”); as well as a host of others fortunate enough to call him friend.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecelia Mae (Paraday) Goerdt; son, Albert Charles Goerdt; parents, Albert and Otillia Goerdt; brother, Otto Goerdt; and sisters, Margaret Vaughn and Sylvia Drewniak.
