Jay and his twin sister, Judy were born on April 20, 1947 to Leonard Newman and Alice Newman Horne whom preceded him in death.
Jay graduated from George Washington High School in 1966. He then enlisted into the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970. He served from 1969 to 1970 in Vietnam. After returning to the states Jay began a 40-year career serving as a pharmacy technician at Virginia Hospital Center Arlington.
He is survived by his sister, Judy and special cousin, Emily Knighton and her family.
Jay was a free spirit and giving soul. He has touched many and was loved by all who met him.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 30 from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., at Every Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 West Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA 22302. Interment at Ivy Hill Cemetery.
